'When  You're  Evil'  Comic

5/6/2020

When I started at SCAD, I originally wanted to be a sequential artist. I only took one class and then decided that Illustration was a better fit for me. I still love comics and would love to create them one day. That being said, I felt like I would rather spend more time on one image than the same amount of time on six.
Even though I changed majors, I still loved the sequential class I was in. I wanted to share one of my projects from that class on today's post.
The project guidelines stated that we had to pick a song and make a three page comic depicting part of the song. I chose the song When You're Evil by Voltaire. I couldn't depict the whole song, and looking back, I should have played around more with what parts of the song I did illustrate. OH WELL! I hope you enjoy the comic and the title of the song is linked to a youtube video of the song if you are interested.
Y'all have a great day!

Dungeons  and  Dragons  Character  Sketches

I play Dungeons and Dragons with my Fiance and our friends. I have been a part of multiple different games and gaming groups since I started playing and I absolutely love to draw my characters. Even if they don't get played for long, I still love seeing them somewhere outside of my head. That being said, I do have a bad habit of starting them and not finishing them. They sit in my "work in progress folder" and are rarely ever seen. So I am going to share some of those characters that currently reside in illustration limbo! I hope you enjoy!

Happy Monday everybody! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy.
I am so excited that things are starting to open again. I haven't really gone out too much since the openings started, but it sure is nice to see the world working its way back to normal again.
I really didn't have a game plan for today's post so I guess I just will share some process work from the illustration that I am currently working on. I won't tell you the story yet though. I will save that for when I finish  ;).
Also, I just wanted to let y'all know that I made a small change to the site. My resume (located at the bottom of the 'About the Artist' page) has been completely updated. So feel free to go take a look if you want!
Y'all have a great night. Thank you so much for your love and support!

The  Yurei  and  the  Warrior  Tree

5/1/2020

So today I thought I would post a video of The Yurei and the Warrior Tree.
I use Procreate on the iPad for most of my digital work and it has a wonderful little feature were it will record all of my pen strokes and I can share the whole process as a video (I also do some tweaking on iMovie).
This illustration was really fun to make but it sure was difficult. I spent the most energy on the tree bark, and at one point I got so tired with the whole illustration that I just said 'screw it' and used the sunflower design from another piece I had completed prior. I am happy with how it turned out though! :-)
The story:
In a field of sunflowers sits a barren tree. It is believed that whosoever chops down this tree will be granted eternal power and success in all of their lifetimes. This tree, however, is guarded by a fierce and powerful spirit that must first be vanquished. Many warriors have tried and failed to conquer the specter. Their swords remain embedded in the trunk and roots of the tree while their spirits are bound to serve and protect the Yurei, and the tree, should she demand it.

It'S tHrOw BaCk ThUrSdAy EvErYbOdY!
It is also my first post on the blog. I hope you are all doing well and staying safe and healthy in this crazy quarantine.
I have to admit that I have had difficulty in the past keeping up with blogs. But I am actively trying to be more involved with my social media platforms and I figured that this would be a good exercise in consistency!
While I will be sharing a lot of items that you can see on my Instagram and Facebook accounts, I will be posting a bit more process work, videos, and other goodies (that may not make it to social media) here. I hope you enjoy!
With that said, let's move on to my FIRST EVER #TBT!
I wanted to give some love to some drawings that have not seen the light of day for quite some time. Today, I am going  WAY  back to when I was a wee tot. These are roughly from when I was in first or second grade and one of them is me with an imaginary friend who was a fruit vampire lol!
Creating ANYTHING is not easy! It takes years of practice and continuously challenging yourself to do better (not to mention riding out some possibly embarrassing creative phases). I am proud and excited to share my entire journey with you; past, present, and future.
